About the UGREEN CM217 (50966)
The UGREEN CM217 (50966) is a compact bidirectional HDMI 2.0 switch designed to make everyday HDMI device connections more convenient. It features three full-size HDMI female ports that can be used in two different arrangements. In 2-in-1-out mode, users can connect two HDMI sources, such as a desktop computer and a gaming console, to one television or monitor and select which source is displayed. In 1-in-2-out mode, a single HDMI source can connect to two separate displays, but only one display can receive the active signal at a time. This means the CM217 is a selector rather than a simultaneous dual-display splitter. The switch supports a maximum advertised resolution of 4K at 60Hz with HDMI 2.0 bandwidth of up to 18Gbps, subject to the capabilities of the source, display and HDMI cables. Compatible HDMI audio can pass through the selected connection, and supported HDR content can be transmitted when the connected equipment supports the required format. A physical button provides direct control without a remote, driver or complicated software. LED indicators show the selected connection, making it easier to manage multiple devices. The switch draws power through the HDMI connection and does not need an external power supply. Its compact design is useful for entertainment centers, office desks and meeting-room equipment. For customers in Bangladesh looking to connect two HDMI devices to one display or switch one device between two screens, the UGREEN CM217 offers a practical and straightforward solution.
Design & Performance
Bidirectional 2-in-1 and 1-in-2 Operation
The CM217 can be connected in either of two HDMI arrangements. Two source devices can share one display, or one source device can be routed to either of two displays. This flexibility makes it useful for different home and office setups.
Only one HDMI signal path is active at a time. In one-source-to-two-display mode, both screens cannot operate simultaneously through this switch. Users needing duplicate output on two screens should choose a dedicated powered HDMI splitter.
HDMI 2.0 with 4K at 60Hz
The UGREEN 50966 supports HDMI 2.0 video with an advertised maximum of 4K at 60Hz. Its 18Gbps interface is suitable for compatible 4K televisions, monitors and other HDMI displays. Lower resolutions such as Full HD are also supported.
Actual resolution and refresh rate depend on the source, connected display and HDMI cables. For 4K@60Hz operation, all active components must support the required HDMI mode. Using unsuitable cables or older HDMI ports may limit performance.
Easy One-Button Manual Switching
A physical selection button allows users to change between connected HDMI devices or displays. This removes the need to unplug and reconnect HDMI cables each time. It is particularly useful when alternating between a computer and a gaming console.
LED indicators identify the active HDMI path. After changing the selection, the connected equipment may briefly renegotiate the HDMI connection before the picture appears. This behavior is normal for many HDMI switching setups.
Compatible HDR and HDMI Audio
The CM217 can pass supported HDMI audio and HDR video through the selected connection. This makes it suitable for compatible televisions, gaming consoles and home entertainment devices. Audio travels with the active HDMI signal.
The available audio and HDR formats depend on the connected source and receiving equipment. The switch does not independently decode audio or convert unsupported HDR formats. Ensure that the display or audio receiver supports the signal being transmitted.
No External Power Adapter Required
The switch is designed to operate using power available through the connected HDMI interface. It does not require a separate power adapter for normal use. This helps reduce extra cables around a television or workstation.
It also operates without installing a software driver. Users can connect their HDMI devices and select the active path directly on the switch. Reliable operation still depends on compatible HDMI devices and appropriate cables.
Gaming Console and Entertainment Connectivity
The UGREEN CM217 is suitable for HDMI-equipped gaming consoles, streaming devices and Blu-ray players. For example, a gaming console and a streaming box can share one HDMI input on a television. Users can switch between them using the selector button.
The connected devices must provide a compatible HDMI output. Video modes above the switch's supported capability are not guaranteed. For modern consoles requiring 4K@120Hz, choose a switch specifically rated for HDMI 2.1 and that display mode.
Useful for Office and Presentation Setups
The CM217 can simplify HDMI connections in offices, meeting rooms and desktop workstations. Two computers with HDMI outputs can share one compatible monitor or projector. This is convenient for changing presentation sources without repeatedly handling cables.
In reverse mode, one computer can be connected to either of two displays. The switch does not create an extended desktop across both screens. Only the selected display receives the active video signal.
Compact Design and Flexible Installation
The UGREEN 50966 has a compact body with three HDMI female connections. Its small footprint makes it convenient to place near a television, gaming setup or office monitor. The single-button layout keeps operation straightforward.
Use good-quality HDMI cables suitable for the intended resolution and refresh rate. Avoid excessive cable tension near the HDMI ports. A simple cable arrangement helps keep the switch accessible and the workstation organized.
Who It's For
The UGREEN CM217 (50966) is suitable for home entertainment users, gamers, office employees, teachers and presenters who frequently switch between HDMI devices. It is especially useful for connecting a desktop PC and gaming console to one monitor, sharing a television between two streaming devices or choosing between two displays from one HDMI source. Its manual operation and compact design are convenient for everyday use. Users who need two displays working simultaneously or 4K@120Hz gaming should select a different HDMI switching solution.
Simple Buying Guide
Before buying the UGREEN CM217 (50966), decide whether you need two HDMI sources connected to one display or one source selectable between two displays. Confirm that your devices use standard HDMI connectors and support the desired resolution. For 4K@60Hz, check the capabilities of your source, display and HDMI cables. Remember that the CM217 supports only one active HDMI path at a time and does not provide simultaneous dual-monitor output. If your setup requires HDMI 2.1 gaming modes, look for a compatible higher-bandwidth switch instead.
